Took the plunge and accepted my daughter Laura's invitation to spend Thanksgiving with her. Jumped on the 7:15 pm Amtrak in Glendale, and was in San Diego about 3 1/2 hours later. Long trip for so short a distance (ok, about 2 hours by car with no traffic). I heard that it was a good thing that I took the train, as even with gas as high as it is, the freeways were PACKED! Laura's friend Kyle picked me up, and we met Laura at her place. Spent Wednesday night catching up on the latest news/gossip. Tried to sleep in on Thursday, but still woke up too early. Helped Tessa (Laura's roomie's sister) with starting the dinner about 1 pm, and the turkey came out of the oven at 6. Lots of food, and not too many people, so we all got as much as we wanted. Of course, I ate more than I should have (as usual), and adding in the baby back ribs that Kyle BBQ'd on the barby put me over the edge. 3 hours later, and I was falling asleep while reading my book.I stuck around for Friday and part of Saturday, and had a lot of fun hanging with Laura. We went shopping for a DVD player for her room, and also got the wireless working (to everyone's joy). I decided to install a second wireles router because the cable modem one was not working, but after I had to power off the cable modem, it magically started working. Go figure. I told Laura to take the Linksys back to Best Buy if they do not have any problems for the next week. If they do have problems with the Netgear, I will have them leave the Linksys connected to the network.
All in all, it was a great weekend. Not too many work problems, so I got to relax a bit. I can see that I definately ned to go visit Laura more often, as it is hard for her to get enough days off in a row to come visit me. Hope everyone else had as good a turkey day as I did!
